Wool & Wattles
Wool and Wattles is our quarterly newsletter that highlights pertinent information gathered from books and veterinary journals by presenting it in a digest form. In addition to abstracts, the newsletter offers: reviews, association reports, practical exchange of techniques, technology, and regulatory news.
The AASRP website (www.aasrp.org) provides a wealth of information for members including: membership directory, continueing education opportunities, career center listing job opportunities, list serv discussions with search capability, organization position statements, option to pay member dues, and other tools for the small ruminant veterinarian. We are currently working on a website upgrade, so be on the look out for a new and improved site!
The AASRP staff is dedicated and eager to assist you with any questions and will help you find answers in a quick and easy fashion. Our resources are unlimited and useful for one another. You may contact them by calling 334-517.1233 or send them an email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Find a Vet and Membership Directory
Through the AASRP website, the public has access to contact information for any member practice. This is an excellent networking tool to gain clients and colleague consultation, referrals, and collaboration.
Current news and information is sent out to members via e-mail to keep our members up to date on important news and information.
Educational Seminars and Courses
Through our resources, we are able to coordinate continueing education programs across the country. This past year we were actively involved with lectures and programs at AVMA Convention, the North American Veterinary Conference, several state veterinary association conferences, and other small meetings across the country. If you are unable to travel, we are fortunate to be able to offer Webinars through the AASRP website.
Networking Through Technology
The AASRP listserv is a discussion group directed through email that offers member veterinarians the opportunity to share ideas and discuss problem cases with colleagues who share an interest in small ruminant medicine. Our website, www.aasrp.org, is the best resource for information.
We promote small ruminant education at veterinary colleges state-wide by offering opportunities to students through externships and grants. A student representative board has been established to promote small ruminant awareness and to recruit new student members that are interested in small ruminant medicine and production.
AASRP is viewed as the knowledgable authority in small ruminant medicine. We often submit resolutions to the AVMA and comment on government regulations affecting small ruminant species. By being involved in our organization you are able to make your opinion on important topics heard.
Sam Guss Memorial Fund
Named after an adored veterinarian and educator who loved small ruminants and students a-like, this fund is available to current veterinary students in order to expand their knowledge through externships across the country. The recipients are chosen by the elected executive board through an application process.
Research Library Access
AASRP has partnered with AABP and the Texas A&M library system to allow members to search and obtain copies of articles from their archives, free of charge.
By joining AASRP, you become part of a combined strength in small ruminant medicine that focuses on relationships offering education, growth, and success.
